So you have ventured into the wonderful world of WordPress (welcome) + you have found your ideal theme to use for your website but now you’re asking yourself “How do I install this?” “What do I do with these zipped files I just bought”? Well, I have the answer to all of those head scratching questions right here. I’ll show you how to upload your theme in a few simple clicks.
If you are looking for a brand spanking new WordPress theme, you can either ask Google, or check out my theme shop!
If you purchased a PB theme, you will have downloaded a file that will be appropriatly name to match the theme you purchased. For example, if you bought the Dear Laura Theme, you should have a file in your downloads called dear-laura.zip.
Step 1: Unzip the downloaded file (See this guide on how to unzip if you struggle) This will leave you with the files contained in that zip, including another zip called theme-files.zip. This is the file that contains all the files you need for your theme to work.
Make sure you have a read through the readme.pdf file. This contains links and passwords to a complete theme guide for your new theme.
Step 2: Login in to your WordPress admin area and navigate to Appearance > Themes.
This page is where all your uploaded themes are + where you can swap + change, activate themes or simply admire your collection. You will already have the WordPress default themes here.
Step 3: At the top of that page, click Add New + then Upload Theme
Step 4: You should now see an upload form. Browse to where you saved your theme-files.zip file. Highlight your file and click Open + then click Upload.
Once your theme has finished installing, you will be presented with a screen where you need to click Activate Now.
That’s it! Had on over to your website URL (you may need to refresh) + you should see your new theme installed.
Now, if you purchased a Pixel Boutique Theme you can check out the Support Page + at the bottom is a bunch of Theme Guides for all of the themes in the shop. You will find the password to each guide n your readme file that would have been included in your download.
